An Aptos man suspected of shooting one woman and injuring another is now in custody. Shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, 57-year-old Ralph Millar allegedly broke into a neighbor’s home on the 100 Block of Santa Cruz Avenue in Aptos. Milar then shot one of the women. He then returned home and barricaded himself in for a standoff that lasted until family members convinced him to surrender at about noon on Thursday. The shooting victim is in stable condition at a trauma center, while Milar is facing attempted murder charges. The incident is believed to have started as a dispute that began in June.
