Even though Santa Cruz County Supervisors have voted unanimously to adopt new rules for Accessory Dwelling Units, those rules will have to be approved by the California Coastal Commission. That’s because supervisors decided that since part of the county is within the Coastal Zone, their rules should comply with both inland and coastal legislation. Supervisors hope the proposed A.D.U. rules will be discussed by Coastal Commissioners in their March or April meeting.
