A 50 foot staircase (down to a beach in south Santa Cruz county) is not expected to be rebuilt this year. The 50-foot staircase down to Sand Dollar Beach was pretty much destroyed by the winter storms that also eroded the beach. The California Coastal Commission will need to approve permits for the project, which is still in the cost estimation and permitting phase.
