SC Bank Robbery-3/5/17-1818-PMD

(18:22) SANTA CRUZ- Santa Cruz Police are investigating a bank robbery. Shortly after 1 p.m., on Friday patrol units responded to a report of an armed robbery at the US Bank on Morrissey Boulevard. Authorities say that masked man ran into the bank, jumped over the counter and pointed a handgun at the employees. The robber demanded cash and threatened the bank employees to open the cash drawers. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money out of the drawers and put it into a black cloth bag. He jumped back over the counter and fled. Nobody inside the bank was injured. The suspect was last seen running east for one block then driving away in an unknown vehicle. SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Suspect described as a male, late 20’s, 5’08” to 5’10”, medium build, wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, a brown beanie with a black stripe, black sunglasses, blue or black pants, dirty white shoes, wearing gloves. No tattoos or scars seen. Attached are images of the suspect during the robbery. SCPD Officers initiated Project ROPE and canvassed the area for the possible suspect. Detectives are working to identify available video of the suspect and getaway vehicle.
