(09:55) Santa Cruz – The Santa Cruz Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy started this week. The program offers residents an inside look at aspects of law enforcement, a series of lectures, demonstrations and discussions. Some of the things participants will learn is how police investigations work, observe a police K-9 demonstration, and drive and actual police car in a controlled high speed pursuit. Participants meet one evening a week for 10 weeks at the Santa Cruz police department community room. Organizers will be posting updates on what the students are learning on the Santa Cruz Police Departments Facebook page. There are still a few spots open for the Tuesday night class.
