SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – The Santa Cruz County Board Of Supervisors has approved a 45-day moratorium on growing recreational marijuana for commercial consumption. Although voters approved State Proposition 64 last week, which legalized recreational marijuana, supervisors said they need time to come up with how to regulate the marijuana that is grown inside, which is designed to be sold for recreational purposes, and the marijuana that is grown outside. Marijuana that is grown inside, or for medical or recreational purposes is still legal. In the meantime, the county is still working on a draft ordinance for commercial cannabis cultivation and what the process will be to get a business license for medical marijuana businesses.
