October 12, 2016: Smoky Conditions Affect Wine Grapes

(12:15) Monterey County – Smoky conditions have affected wine grapes at two vineyards in the Carmel Valley and Cachagua area.  Galante Vineyards lost 90 percent of their crops due to the smoky conditions creating a smoke taint on the wine grapes.  Although there are ways that smoke taint can be treated during production some companies are not willing to compromise the quality of their wine.  Vineyards located in the Salinas area have not been affected by the smoky conditions.
