September 16, 2016: Update: Soberanes Fire

(06:30) Monterey – The Soberanes Fire that is burning in Monterey County is 107,479 acres.  Containment for the Fire increased from 52 percent to 55 percent.  The public should expect to see increasing amounts of smoke on the east side of the fire as burnout operations progress over the coming days to reach containment objectives.   The operation will begin in the area of Chews Ridge and progress towards the existing containment line.  The fire has become the most expensive in the state history.   So far 197.6 million dollars have spent on the fire.  That number is expected to go up as the fire grows in areas that are hard for firefighters to reach.
