(08:30) Big Sur – Cal Fire reported this morning (Monday) that the Soberanes Fire is now 74,604 acres and is still 60 percent contained. Highway 1 was closed yesterday (Sunday) for about 6 hours in efforts to contain the fire and reopened around 6pm last night. However, Cal Fire officials reported this morning (Monday) at 4:40, Highway 1 closed once again, due to a hazardous tree. Highway 1 will be closed to all traffic in both directions, from Point Sur Lighthouse to North Coast Ridge Road. The closure will remain in effect until 5:00 this evening (Monday), or until the roadway is safe for the public. Evacuation warnings were lifted for residents in the Cachagua area Carmel Valley. Warnings remain in effect for Tassajara Road from Carmel Valley to the Tassajara Hot Springs Zen Center.
