(10:30) Monterey – The city of Monterey is handing out eviction notices to the Wharf and three business fronts are expected to be out by the end of the month. After the city revamped their leasing polices Sam Balesteri, who rents the buildings of the Wharf Front gift shop, the coffee shop and Paluca Trattoria, has been on a month -to-month lease while NEGOTIATING a new lease. The city manager, Mike McCarthy, said they have been negotiating with Balesteri for the past 11 months and were unable to reach an agreement. Balesteri was told he needed to move out by August 31. Many renters on the Wharf say they want longer leases to secure their businesses.
