(17:48) BIG SUR – Fire officials say it is quite possible that the Soberanes Fire could quadruple in size before firefighters get it fully contained. As of this afternoon, the wildfire had consumed 40,618 acres, destroying 57 homes and 11 outbuildings…..and it is still threatening 2-thousand homes. The blaze is currently 18 percent contained. Yesterday’s evacuation covers residences on Cachagua Road (between Nason Road and Tassajara Road), and residences on Tassajara Road from East Carmel Valley Road, down Tassajara Road 17 Miles To The Tassajara Hot Springs Zen Center. The fire could grow to 165-thousand acres because of the steep terrain and dry fuel. Cal Fire asks residents in the evacuation warning areas to be prepared to leave at any moment….with their important documents and medications packed, and their animals where they can be easily retrieved. Cal-fire officials ask that residents close their windows and doors as they leave.
