(17:47) BIG SUR/CARMEL HIGHLANDS – People who don’t have to drive on Highway 1 (through Big Sur or the Carmel Highlands), are being asked not to….so that firefighters (and area residents) can move around more easily. More than 200 engines and 20 water tenders are using Highway 1 through that area to get to and from the Soberanes Fire, and the staging area in Toro Park off of Highway 68. Drivers who have to drive in that area are asked to slow down and allow the fire equipment to pass. All scheduled roadwork between Ragged Point and Carmel has been suspended until the fire is under control.
