July 25, 2016: SOBERANES FIRE – AIR QUALITY

(17:30) MONTEREY COUNTY – The  approximately 16-thousand  acre  Soberanes  Fire, burning  between  Big  Sur  and  Carmel  Highlands,  is  negatively  impacting  the  air  quality  along  the  central  coast,   along  with  threatening  hundreds  of  homes.   The  Soberanes  Fire  also caused a spot fire east of Hurricane Point that spread to nearly 1,000 acres today.   A community meeting for anyone affected by the Soberanes Fire is scheduled for 6 p.m. this evening at Carmel River School, located at 15th and Monte Verde in Carmel. The meeting will be hosted by Cal Fire and the U.S. Forest Service. Representatives from the county’s sheriff’s office, health office, and emergency services agency will be present to answer questions.
