(06:40) SANTA CLARA COUNTY – Highway 17 has reopened following a 5-acre brush fire that shut down the roadway for two hours on Monday. The blaze sparked near Bear Creek and Summit roads around 3:30 p.m. after a car caught fire near Redwood Estates. The flames spread near the Highway, prompting Santa Clara County fire crews to shut down both northbound and southbound lanes. Evacuation orders were also issued for Redwood Estates residents. By 7:30 p.m., the fire was contained and evacuated residents were allowed to return home. One firefighter was injured, but is expected to recover. (S.G.)
