(08:05) CARMEL – The superintendent of the Carmel Unified School District has announced his resignation. Scott Laurence came to Carmel last July after working six years for the San Mateo Union High School District. According to the district board, Laurence’s service as superintendent was not meeting the board’s expectations. Additionally, the board stated that Laurence’s resignation is a compromise stemming from a potential dispute. Laurence went on medical leave in January and returned in mid-May. During that time, Karen Hendricks was selected as the interim superintendent. She will continue fulfilling the position until a new person is hired. Laurence’s resignation will be effective June 30.
