(06:00) SALINAS – Although officials at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital made a recent contract offer, the Union representing the workers deemed the offer to be too little too late, and so several hundred hospital workers went out on a planned 1-day strike yesterday. Those workers take care of environmental science, nutritional services and accounting, and they have been working without a contract for 10 months now. Replacement workers were brought in to maintain patient care during the 1 day strike, however, their contract has them at SVMH for 3 days, so picketers will have to wait until Friday to be reinstated.
