(07:03) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – A Santa Cruz County Civil Grand Jury released a report on Tuesday, criticizing the overall performance of the county’s Mental Health Advisory Board. The duties of the advisory board include overseeing and advising the county’s Board of Supervisors on mental health programs and services. According to the report, the advisory board lacks adequate direction, training, and support to perform its responsibilities. Additionally, the report criticizes the MCAB for not conducting meetings in an orderly manner and failing to heed suggestions from the public. The civil grand jury recommends that the advisory board make a better effort to fill vacancies, hold an annual meeting to establish and evaluate goals, and advocate for mental health clients. (S.G.)
