(17:00) MONTEREY – Some Monterey parking meters have been re-purposed into meters that can accept donations to help the homeless. Each one of the 5 meters are now painted bright orange, and they have been placed in high foot-traffic areas. City officials say that 100 percent of the money people put into the donation meters will be given to agencies that serve homeless people. If the pilot program proves successful in Monterey, city officials plan to add more donation meters.
