(17:42) SALINAS – A man, who co-founded a major local agricultural company, has passed away. George Tanimura (of Tanimura & Antle) was 100 years-old when he died peacefully in his Salinas home late last week. Tanimura, is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, as well as his wife (of 71 years), 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. The San Juan Bautista native, who was born July 2nd of 1915, was an early proponent of Drip Irrigation, because it conserved water…..and even decades ago, he recognized that water conservation was critically important, especially in the Monterey Bay Area. There will be a viewing from 3-6 p.m. this Saturday at Struve And Laporte Funeral Chapel, and his funeral will be held Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. at the Buddhist Temple Of Salinas, which is located at 14 California Street.
