(19:04) CENTRAL COAST – There are no tsunami sirens on the central coast. That’s because the closest threat is believed to be at least an hour away in the Cascadia Subduction Zone (at the California/Oregon border). Because that’s so far away, there’s plenty of time to warn the public, so stationary sirens aren’t needed. Area residents and visitors are, however, encouraged to sign up for Reverse 9-1-1 Notifications, because those can be sent via e-mail, text, or automated phone calls.
