March 15, 2016: Spike in Car Burglaries in Monterey County

(06:58) MONTEREY COUNTY – Law enforcement agencies have been seeing a rise in car burglaries across Monterey County. Last weekend, Monterey police investigated nearly a dozen reports of car burglaries and thefts on Alameda Street, San Bernabe Drive, Monterey Circle, and in the area of Via Del Pinar. Over the past weekend, six more break-ins were reported in Carmel and Carmel Valley. Additional car burglaries were reported in Salinas in the Monterey Park area and at Staples Energy. Residents are being reminded to park their cars in well-lit areas, avoid leaving valuables inside their vehicles, and report suspicious activity. (S.G.)
