February 18, 2016: Watsonville School Locked Down Due to Police Activity Nearby

(07:02) WATSONVILLE –A Watsonville school was briefly locked down Wednesday while officers arrested an armed suspect nearby. Freedom Elementary was put on lockdown shortly before 2:30 p.m. after police received a report of a disturbance at an apartment complex on the 200 block of Ross Avenue. At the scene, police found 33-year-old Alex Cornejo pointing a shotgun at another man. Cornejo was eventually detained and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. The lockdown at Freedom Elementary was lifted shortly after. Cornejo faces a number of charges, including vandalism, domestic violence and exhibiting a gun. (S.G.)
