February 17, 2016: Greenfield Residents Warned About Phone Scam Involving Police, IRS

(08:24) GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Police Department has issued a warning about a phone scam. A caller impersonating a police officer has reportedly been contacting residents, claiming that he is calling on behalf of the Internal Revenue Service. The caller, who identifies himself as Paul Watson, tells victims that they are late on paying their taxes and threatens them with arrest. He then requests residents to transfer money into an account under the name “Raymond Scott”. The Greenfield Police Department has announced that there is no Officer Paul Watson employed by the agency and is urging residents to contact them if they receive a call of this nature. (S.G.)
