Tomorrow is Denim Day, and in honor of that some local law enforcement officers around the Central Coast plan to wear jeans tomorrow. Denim day was established in 1999, as a global protest to a legal decision in the Italian Supreme Court that overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. According to DenimDayInfo.org, 70 percent of female victims know their rapists. An estimated one in five women, and one in seven men, will be victims of sexual assault in their lifetime. Only about 3 out of every 100 rapists will ever spend a day in prison.
