Hundreds of sick sea lion pups have been washing ashore along the California coast. This year alone, over 150 pups have been found emaciated and ill. Dozens of the sick animals are being found in the Monterey Bay Area and are being treated at the Marine Mammal Center in Moss Landing. Officials say the pups are a year old or younger. Biologists are currently looking into what is causing the sea lions to be separated from their mothers earlier than normal. A number of harbor seal pups and northern fur seal pups have also been rescued.
