Monterey County Strawberry Growers Might Switch Crops- 2/10/15 20:30 S.S.

Some local “conventional” strawberry growers are looking at switching crops in the next couple years. That’s because the fumigant they use, Methyl Bromide, is being phased-out in the next couple years. Although they’ve been looking for a good alternative, so far they don’t have one. That means that Monterey County’s Top Crop may well become some other fruit or vegetable, which could also mean that ‘good strawberries’ may become hard to find.
