A Santa Cruz man convicted of killing a priest in 1985 has been denied parole. Edward Lee Bowman was sentenced to 25 years to life for the murder of 47-year-old Father John Karastamatis, a Greek Orthodox priest. Officials say Karastamatis found Bowman and his wife Anna burglarizing the church. The priest was then stabbed and beaten to death. During a hearing at the California Health Facility in Stockton, Bowman was denied parole for the fourth time. He will be eligible for parole again in five years.
