Carmel officials have formally requested that the company California American Water conduct a report on its pipes and hydrants within city limits. Last year, a PG&E gas line exploded in a residential area. The company was fined for failing to keep adequate records. City officials are now taking steps to prevent incidents of this nature. A letter has been sent to Cal-Am asking the company to provide a full report of the condition of its pipeline system and disclose plans for future projects.
