A Scotts Valley man was arrested for probation and weapons violations on Saturday. At about 5:45 p-m, officers from the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime and Gang Task Force, aided by members of the Santa Cruz Police Department’s Canine Unit, performed a probation compliance check at the home of convicted felon 18-year-old Andrew Fernandez on the 300 block of Tabor drive. A shotgun with altered serial numbers was recovered and Fernandez was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. The incident marked the first firearm seizure of the year. In 2014, the task force took 26 guns off the streets.
