The Treasury Inspector General has issued a warning to taxpayers, to avoid a scam by fake IRS agents. Officials have received reports of victims having collectively lost more than $1 million in this scam. The people doing the scamming have reportedly contacted more than 20,000 people so far, telling them they owe unpaid taxes and have to pay them using a wire transfer or pre-paid debit card.
