With below freezing temperatures, and high winds forecast for the next few days, a warming center has opened its doors on Lincoln Avenue in Salinas. This is the second year that Shelter Outreach Plus is using its new location, that can serve 68 people at a time. Due to colder-than-usual temperatures, organizers plan to start opening an hour earlier, and stay open until 7 a.m. (instead of the 5:45 a.m. time people currently need to leave by. Although they have brought in more blankets and warm clothing, more supplies are still needed, and can be dropped off at 215 Lincoln Avenue in Salinas.
