The city of Carmel is being sued by a baker from Stanislaus County. The owner of Cobblestones Bakery is suing the city for $25,000 in damages, after being denied access as a seller to the Farmers Market. The suit alleges discrimination to out-of-area businesses. The bakery, which has already paid over $700 for a county health permit as well as weekly fees to the administrators of the event, was not allowed to set up because of a city ordinance that allows only businesses from the Central Coast at Carmel’s Farmers Market.
