A California Department of Fish and Wildlife patrol vessel was damaged entering the Santa Cruz Harbor, Wednesday morning. The 60-foot aluminum catamaran stationed in Moss Landing was entering the harbor for routine maintenance, at about 9:30 a.m. in stormy conditions, when rough seas sent the ship into the jetty. Both bows received damage estimated in the thousands. The catamaran is one of six patrol boats throughout the state operated by the agency.
