Hollister’s fire chief is back on the job after being cleared of any wrongdoing. Chief O’Connor had been placed on administrative leave two months ago while independent investigators examined charges of nepotism. The allegations came about after O’Connor, following orders from the city to cut fire department overtime, used reserve firefighters to work, in instances, that it would avoid paying a regular employee overtime. Although O’Connor’s son worked as a reserve fireman nepotism allegations were found to be baseless.
