A Salinas man has been arrested after allegedly killing his girlfriend over the weekend. Monterey County deputies found 22-year-old Byron Sumagang and 20-year-old Carole Sangco in the backseat of a car on Old Stage Road near Alisal Road Sunday morning. The victim was unconscious and transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Sumagang received medical treatment before he was booked into Monterey County Jail. The homicide is currently under investigation.
