The superintendent of the Salinas City Elementary School District has died.
Donna Alonzo Vaughan died Monday evening following a near two year battle with cancer.
Vaughan was diagnosed with Neuroeendocrine in October 2011.
Since May of last year she has been communicating via skype when receiving treatment in Houston.
