Elkhorn Slough Project Complete 05/19/11 7:30p.m. TDH

Wildlife officials gathered at elkorn slough this week, to celebrate the recent completion of a project to control erosion.   The 4-point-5 million dollar project, paid for with federal stimulus funds, involved installing an underwater sill.   The sill acts as a retaining wall, that slows tidal erosion.  In addition to slowing further erosion, the project is also expected to restore 7-acres of marshland.  The construction work also involved improvements to Kirby park.
