LOCAL ASSEMBLYMAN BILL MONNING’S Assembly Bill-753, has passed the California State Assembly on a 42-26 vote. AB-753 prohibits rental car companies from renting (or selling) vehicles to the public, until all safety recall work has been performed. Existing federal and state laws currently permit rental car companies to rent out cars that are being recalled (due to safety defects, or that fail to comply with federal safety standards).
AB-753 now moves to the Senate for further action.
local assemblyman bill monning authored AB-753 because “consumers ought to be able to rent a car, without worrying about safety issues, that should have already been repaired”.
