An 89-year-old man suffered life threatening injuries when he was struck by a car in Watsonville early today,
The 6:45 AM accident closed the eastbound lanes of Airport Boulevard for about 5 hours. Police said that rather than use a crosswalk, the victim tried crossing the street from one bus stop to another when he was hit.
Police say they don’t believe speed, drugs, alcohol or cell phones were factors in causing the accident. The victim was transported to a trauma center.
