The fate of a 154 year old Pepper Tree in Watsonville has some residents concerned. The tree was planted at its East Beach Street location in 1863, during the Civil War. The tree is on private property and the owners are concerned the tree poses safety issues. Some historians and community members are examining options to present to the owners that could save the tree. One solution would require a minimum of several thousand dollars of arborists services to render the tree safe.
