15:45 UPDATE: Soberanes Fire 08/01/16B 1545 1 S.S.

(15:45) BIG SUR – As of this afternoon, the Soberanes Fire had burned 40,618 acres and was 18% contained.  The most recent evacuation orders include all resIdences along Cachagua Rd. from the intersection of Cachagua Rd at Nason Rd. extending to the intersection of Cachagua Rd. at Tassajara Rd. All residences on Tassajara Rd. at the intersection of East Carmel Valley Road and Tassajara Rd. extending approximately 17 miles to the end of Tassajara Rd. at the Tassajara Hot Springs Zen Center. This includes all roads that lead from those roads.   The fire has destroyed 57 homes, and11 outbuildings, and is still threatening 2-thousand homes.  There are nearly 53-hundred people, using 16 helicopters, 6 air tankers, 72 dozers and 46 water tenders….working to quell the 63-square-mile WildFire.

A Community Meeting will be held tonight starting promptly at 6 p.m. at the Tularcitos Elementary School in Carmel Valley. Representatives from the agencies managing the incident will provide an operational briefing and be available for questions.

CALIFORNIA STATE PARK CLOSURES: All California State Parks from Point Lobos State Natural Reserve through Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park are closed until further notice.  Those parks include,  Andrew Molera State Park, Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park Campground and Day Use and Point Sur Historic Lighthouse.
